Team Envirosport-Mike Turtur Cycles had been working on a race plan and the training to put it into action after a good showing in round 3 . The evening was clear and sunny and the Victoria Park Zephyr was only blowing at a moderate pace, so the conditions were ideal for racing. The race got underway with the bunch hanging together in the early stages before an attack at about the twenty minute mark.
As things settled down there were two riders in the break from Lightsview and Port Adelaide CC. The break got out to about 20 seconds and with three laps to go the PowerOn Team decided now was the time to put their sprinter in place for the win. But Envirosport-Mike Turtur Cycles team, with their sprinter Gareth Davies, was also waiting its time in this chasing bunch and positioned him in just the right spot as they came through the last corner into the straight. Jason de Ross lead out the sprint but Gareth Davies had no trouble coming around him to take the win by three lengths to the cheers of the crowd and his team mates. Gareth now sits in fourth place in the series and is challenging for a place on the podium come the 21st January.
