Team Envirosport is proud to announce a new sponsor for the 2016/2017 Summer season. Fixed Interest Experts FIIG have joined us for the summer season and the team will be fielding teams in the Masters and the Women’s categories. We are looking forward to another successful summer and we have strengthened our Masters team with the addition of Michael Archer. Michael is a strong time trialist and will come into his own in the three time trial events in the 10 round series. Our lead sprinter Gareth Davies has wintered well and is looking forward to the support of his team mates in the criterium rounds at Victoria Park and Daniel Tregenza tells us he has mastered the dirt and cannot wait to get to Walleroo this year. Bryan MacIntyre has been racing strongly over the winter and is eyeing off the over 50 trophy for this year. Glenn Fear, Marcus Hofer and Andrew Miller have been training well and are primed and ready for the series. Team Caption Aaron Pollard will be supporting the team from the road side for the early part of the series. Thank you FIIG for your support www.fiig.com.au
Team Envirosport-Mike Turtur Cycles had been working on a race plan and the training to put it into action after a good showing in round 3 . The evening was clear and sunny and the Victoria Park Zephyr was only blowing at a moderate pace, so the conditions were ideal for racing. The race got underway with the bunch hanging together in the early stages before an attack at about the twenty minute mark.
Sunday’s Round 5 proved to be decisive for the Envirosport/Mike Turtur Cycles team with Gareth Davies taking his second win of the series to prove he is a force to be reckoned with. The race at Victoria Park was on from the gun with all teams trying to keep the pace very high to thin out the field, but this strategy didn’t bear fruit with only 5 riders dropped during the race.
2014 saw Cycling South Australia launch a Masters Teams Criterium series for the first time, to run in conjunction with the Bowden Elite Teams series. Envirosport Skin and Muscle Care and Mike Turtur Cycles entered a 7 rider team in the series. With a number of training rides under their belts “perfecting the lead out train”, the first round was on a great circuit around the wool stores of historic Port Adelaide.
Having been part of the original 2014/15 series the Envirosport – Mike Turtur Cycles – Oakford Homes team decided that for the 2015/16 series it would enter teams in the Masters Series and the Women’s elite series for 2015/16.
The goal of the Women’s team is to promote women’s cycling to the widestrange of women cyclists and the general public and to this aim Team Captain Leanne Davies put together a team consisting of riders from all age groups, under 23 through to Masters 7 (60 yrs +). The team intends to be competitive but to have lots of fun racing, supporting each other and learning lots about team racing throughout the series.
